The Temple and Vihara in Senggarang

 Senggarang is the central temple in the Riau Islands. This certainly is related to the presence of existing ethnic Chinese almost simultaneously with the development community in senggarang.

Its location overlooking the sea is very possible for the construction of these temples

This region is a region of Buddhist religious.

In this area there are several temples that magical assessed according to Buddhist belief.  
The temples are :


    * Sun Te Kong Temple (Temple of the god of fire)

Sun Te Kong Temple is located not far from Port Sengarang. The temple has about 300 year-old is the oldest temple in Senggarang. The establishment and existence of this temple almost coincided with Sengarang market. At first, this temple building still looks very simple compared to current conditions, this temple known as the temple of the god of fire, people of Chinese descent who came to this temple to pray for the sake of begging happiness.

    * Marco Temple (Temple of the god of the Sea)

Marco is the name of the ruler of the sea god who is very feared by the Chinese. according to the trust if their prayer at this temple, then he will get a safety at sea while sailing. Marco temple lies between the temple Sun temple Te Kong and Tay Tikong

Structure has a smaller form of temple Sun Te Kong. The temple was founded in the 17th century by Chinese people who inhabit senggarang. The building was never in pugar in 1987 by the Chinese community living in Senggarang part in this building then added with various decorations by improvements in some parts.

    * Tay Tikong Temple (Temple of the god of land)

Tay Tikong temple was built in conjunction with Marco temple. The location of this temple temple parallel to Marco, but the building is smaller and the tip. Temple Tay Tikong are still well maintained. Tay Tikong Temple known as temple of the god of the earth at the local Chinese community have confidence when praying at this temple then they will successfully harvest rice well, and can build a house.

    * Beringin Temple

Location of Beringin temple (tien Shang Miao) is not far from shore. This temple is estimated to have been aged 200 years. Previously, this temple was a dwelling house Kapitang. He was a prince in the village of Senggarang. After the end of term, this house be a place of worship Chinese community living in Senggarang. Because of old age, the building is much overgrown with banyan trees that cover the roof of the outer wall. Therefore, this temple is called Beringin Temple. Building homes at this time some have been lost, which left only partly used as a place of worship and Chinese society.

    * Temple Anio

Erletak Anio temple in the middle of the forest or river Papa Snake River in the village of Kampong Bugis. Called the Snake River because of the way to the temple is shaped like a snake winding. According to Chinese belief, if someone has not got a mate, praying at this temple according to the trust will soon get a mate. although the age of this temple has reached 200 years, but the condition was still well maintained.

    * Dharma Vihara Sasana

Dharma Vihara Sasana is the oldest monastery in Senggarang. Monastery built in the 17th century is situated on a slope which is not far from the temple Sun Te Kong. Condition was still well maintained. This monastery is a place of worship that embraces Buddhist vegetarian.
